Screw Bin Dischargers Manufactured for Industrial Applications

Screw bin dischargers are a proven effective and efficient method of discharging powder and granular materials from storage bins and are ideal for controlling the discharge of either fixed or variable flow rates. Dischargers are used extensively in assorted industrial applications handling basic raw materials or additives in food, animal feed, chemicals, plastics, rubber, detergents, etc.

Many of the problems encountered in process plant are generally associated with flow rates from bins, hoppers and silos. The screw bin discharger is ideal where extraction and feeding of powders and granular materials are required in an infinitely variable mode or regulated to predetermined levels. They are generally used to create a "live" bottom to a bin instead of a hopper, this can be useful when products do not readily flow down a traditional hopper bin. Also they can be used to provide a controlled feed out of a hopper or bin into a process with the speed and output controlled using an inverter.

Our dischargers incorporate outstanding design features gained from many years of bulk materials handling experience.

The range includes single, twin and multi-worm models as well as the standard parallel bin dischargers. Available in mild steel or stainless steel, in normal and heavy duty construction, in various sizes and capacities and built to suit specific applications, where smooth feed or discharge are required to combat such conditions as bridging, rat-holing, flushing, and segregation of materials in hoppers. Custom built, variable inlet and casing lengths are also available, as are screw dischargers with fixed or variable speed drives with spur gears. The four types all have variable pitch flights. The single, twin and multi-worm dischargers normally have tapered screws but they can be fitted with parallel blading if the material is suitable.

Single Worm Bin Discharger

Designed for an extraction of free-flowing material and feeding of it at a constant pre-determined rate.

Twin Worm Bin Discharger

Extracts difficult materials, such as those with a tendency to bridge.

Standard Parallel Bin Discharger

For extraction of granular and free-flowing materials, a parallel worm with variable pitch blading can sometimes be used. This discharger gives even, regular discharge along the whole length of the bin and is the most economical type. An examination of the material to be discharged will determine whether or not this kind of discharger is suitable.

Multi Worm Bin Discharger

These machines are usually used for extremely difficult materials that tend to bridge easily and that can only be stored in bins with vertical or near vertical walls. The use of several tapered screws makes it possible for the bottom of a vertically walled bin to be made completely live, minimising the risk of bridging and discharging the most difficult materials in a controlled manner. Any number of screws can be incorporated to suit specific requirements such as wide inlet openings to accommodate large hoppers or storage bins. Construction variations can include tapered screws and troughs, special inlets & tailored casing lengths.

Standard & Optional Screw Flight Profiles

Tapering Flight Screw

Equal pitch available as standard. Draws feed material uniformly from the entire length of the feed opening.

Continous Flight Screws

Pitch equal to diameter. Most commonly used for general purpose applications.

Half Pitch Continuous Screw

Used in flood feed conditions for controlled cross sectional loading of screw. Also recommended in applications where screw has to be inclined.

Double Start Conveyor Screw

Assures more accurate regulation of feed and flow in screw feeders / dischargers and effectively deters the flushing action of materials that have become fluidised. Sometimes used to promote smooth, gentle flow and discharge of certain materials.

Continuously Welded Flight Screw

Flights may be continuously welded to the pipe shaft on one or both flight sides to prevent ripping the flight under extremely heavy loads. Also used in conditions where non-contamination is imperative.

Left Hand Flight Screw

Left hand flight screws are offered as an optional item. Once a screw discharger is built and installed with a certain hand the direction of rotation is fixed for the desired direction of material transport.

Variable Pitch Screw

Used to draw free flowing materials uniformly from the entire length of the feed opening.
